League: Spring Information
CMBA Spring League 2023
CMBA has been working diligently to create a Spring League that encompasses the competitive needs of the Calgary youth basketball community.
There will be two distinct categories:

CLUB Division - Weeknight League Games (Top club teams)
-
REC Division - Weekend Tournaments (lower level club teams & community teams)
Player Birth Date Level of Play Categories:
- U11 Birth Years - 2013 - 2012
- U13 Birth Years -2011 - 2010
- U15 Birth Years - 2009 - 2008
- U18 Birth Years - 2005 - 2006 - 2007

NEW!!! & Important Information - One Sole Point of Contact needed for Each Club
- The CMBA Office, Spring League Committee, and Sportsmanship & Conduct Committee will only communicate with one primary contact in your club (we will not communicate with multiple contacts in your club)
- Please designate one primary contact for your club and inform your coaches and team managers that you will be the voice for them through-out Spring League 2023 season.
- The main contact will be the person to provide a scanned copy of your club's certificate of sport liability insurance, clubs failing to produce this document by the registration deadline will not be apart of the Spring 2023 season.
- Each Club must provide one primary contact name with email address, and cell phone number for; Schedule changes, Issues, and Disciplinary enquiries.
Club Division Weeknights:
Divisions:
- 10 total divisions
- 80 total teams
- A Division and B Division
- Divisions will consist of a minimum of 4 teams and maximum of 8 teams
- U13 Boys A & B (Game night mainly Mondays)
- U15 Boys A & B (Game night mainly Mondays)
- U13 Girls A & B (Game night mainly Tuesdays)
- U15 Girls A & B (Game night mainly Tuesdays)
- U18 Boys & Girls Club (Game night mainly Wednesdays)
Games & General Dates:
- Games will be weekdays: Monday to Wednesday (***games on Thursday, May 25th are due to Victoria Day holiday on Monday, May 22nd)
- Weeknight League will begin the week of Monday, April 17th, 2023 and conclude by Thursday, June 15th, 2023.
- Each Division will play primarily on the same night each week except for playoffs —***there might be the odd regular season game night schedule change due to gym rental availability***
- 9 total games: 7 league games, 2 playoff games
Cost:
- Cost is $1,300.00 per team + a $300 performance deposit = $1,600 per team
- The $300 forfeit/sportsmanship/damage deposit will be fully refunded to each team that fulfills their full game commitment—refunds will be refunded in 30 days following the conclusion of the league
Rec Division Weekend Tournaments (Lower Level Club Teams and Community Teams)
Divisions:
- 16 total divisions
- 128 total teams
- Primarily B Division and C Division (except U11 League is A & B)
- Division size to be determined
- U11 Boys & Girls A & B
- U13 Boys & Girls B & C
- U15 Boys & Girls B & C
- U18 Boys & Girls B & C
Games:
- Games will be weekends - 3 tournament weekends
- 9 total games
Cost:

U11 Rule Modifications
REC U11 Girls and Boys Divisions:
- FIBA Rules with modifications
- Games will be played with a four (4) vs. four (4) format
- Ball Size: 5 both boys and girls
- Hoop Height: 8.5 feet
- Foul Line: 15ft from baseline, or 3ft closer than marked foul line
- Games shall consist of 14 periods of 3 minutes each for substituting periods (7 periods in the 1st half and 7 periods in the 2nd half)
- NO full court defense allowed

League: Spring Insurance
All teams must provide a copy of their insurance along with complete rosters including Birth Dates and Full Names to the CMBA via email to cmba@cmba.ab.ca

Registration Policy:
- Registrations will be First Come/First Paid
- The Club Division Weeknights will likely fill fast
- For clubs or teams that want to enter the CMBA Spring League (Club or REC) but have not yet confirmed the number of teams interested, you can email CMBA in advance of registering online with your expected team(s): cmba@cmba.ab.ca

**Teams registering for the Club Weeknights & REC Tournaments MUST commit to all tournaments and game nights listed above**
Team Deposit: $300—game forfeit fee/sportsmanship conduct fee/damage deposit fee for all teams—which will be refunded 30 days from the end of the season if all performance needs are met—i.e. team is considered in good standing)
Player Registrations: All players MUST be registered via the RAMP system to their team by Friday, April 7th, 9:00 am (Online player registration will be in-lieu of team rosters)
Refunds: Team registration fees will not be refunded if a team or teams cancel their participation in the Spring Club Weeknight League after March 15th, 2023 at 9:00 am.
A 10% service charge will be applied to teams withdrawing before March 15th, 2023 at 9:00 am.
