Current School: Concordia University

Accolades: CLS U15 Girls Bronze Medalist at ABA Youth Provincials 2015; CLS U13 Girls CMBA City Playoffs Division 1 Gold Medalist 2013; 4th place finish at 3A Highschool Provincials in 2016, 4 consecutive Rockyview Divisional Championships; 3 Highschool Zone Championships, 2015, 2016, 2018.

Current Activities/Hobbies: Playing basketball and walking my dogs


Questions with Concordia University player Olivia Armstrong:

Q: Who is your favourite basketball player?

A: Kyle Lowry is my favourite basketball player and has been since I was 14.  I am not the biggest basketball player stature wise, and Kyle proves that regardless of your height, you can be a phenomenal player through hard work.

Q: Which basketball team do you root for?

A: The Toronto Raptor. I became a fan of them after watching the game 7 loss to the Brooklyn Nets in 2014. I admired the passion and fight everyone on the team played with.

Q: Who has the best basketball uniforms of any college or pro team you like?

A: The OVO City Edition Toronto Raptors jersey.

Q: What is your favourite basketball movie?

A: Space Jam! I love it because it shows it doesn’t matter how big you are, you can still win games.

Q: What is your favourite candy?

A: A Twix bar

Q: What is your favourite ice cream?

A: Oreo

Q: Do you have a hobby?

A:  like having my finger nails a cool colour.

Q: Do you have a favourite pregame meal before you play a basketball game?

A: Spaghetti

Q: What is your favourite basketball play?

A: Shooting the three! It has become a staple.

Q: What do you love most about the game of basketball?

A: It is something you can constantly improve at and always be working towards.

Q: Do you have a favourite memory from when you played in the CMBA?

A:  When my team and I won our first gold medal.

Q: What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach?

A: If there is one thing you can control, it is your effort, don’t let someone beat you in the effort battle.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to younger players?

A: Do everything with a purpos.

Q: What basketball skill is your greatest strength?

A: Shooting.

Q: What was your biggest failure or adversity you have faced in the game, and how did you over come it?

A: I tore my ACL and meniscus during my peak performance of my second year. Perseverance and Resilience have helped me over the mountain. Find the silver lining and remember why you are doing it.

Q: Are you a vocal leader on the court or do you lead by example? Or both?

A: Both.

Q: How do you find positive ways to communicate with your teammates? To build team culture.

A:  Be encouraging. We are all on the same side and need to work together.

Q: What is something interesting about you that no one really knows?

A: I have good mechanic skills, thanks to my dad.

Q: What is your favourite class or subject in University?

A: Introduction to Coaching. I liked it because by taking it I received my level 1 coaching certificate.

Q: What are your plans after you graduate? 

A: To be a sports psychologist and coach basketball.

Q: How are you training during the Covid-19 pandemic? To prepare for the next season.

A: Lots of training outside!
